The basic interface you will see when
you use the phone is very simple with clearly labeled icons that
represent the tasks you will perform most often. And the main screen
can be changed to contain only those apps that you wish to use. In
addition, the taskbar at the bottom of the screen can be modified to
contain the four apps you will use most often, i.e. email, phone, contact
list, etc. The basic home screen looks something like this:
The phone will go to sleep very quickly to help extend battery life. To wake the phone, you press the home button (the only button on the face of the phone) and you will see this screen:
You will need to slide the gray button all the way to the right to wake the phone. You will then see the last screen you were viewing when the phone went to sleep. The green battery (shown above at full charge) will give you a visual indication of the remaining battery power. There are only four mechanical buttons on the 3Gs: Home Button
Sleep/wake Button
Volume Control Button
Silence (vibrate only) Button
Move or Delete Icons To change the location of any of the icons on your screen, you simply touch and hold any of the 4 icons at the bottom of the screen. All the icons will begin to shake and you can then drag any of them to any other location on your screen, including to a different home page or onto the task bar which is visible from all pages. To move one to a different page, you will need to drag it to the right or left edge of the screen and pause for a second and then it will be moved to the next page and then the next and so on. When you are finished moving icons, press the home key at the bottom of the screen. |
