System File Corruption

To start SFC, click "Start", then "Run" and type "cmd", then press "Enter". A DOS window similar to this one should open. Type "sfc /scannow" and press "Enter". It will appear that nothing has happened at first. Close the DOS window and you will see the "Windows File Protection" graphics box displayed below.

When the program has started, you will see this window.

If it finds systems files that have been modified, it will ask you to insert your original windows system disk. If your computer did not come with a windows system disk, you will need to obtain one in order to complete this process.

When the process has completed, click okay to close the window.
