Although Carbonite is currently the least expensive and easiest offsite backup service to use, there are a few points of information you should know before subscribing to this service:

1. Tech support by telephone is available only if you pay an annual support fee of $19.95. Otherwise, your only option is to contact me, send an email to Carbonite, or chat online with a Carbonite representative.

2. In order to log on and restore your data in case of a disaster, you MUST know your username and password. (This is no different than any other online backup service.)

3. If you loose or forget the password and need to have it reset, you must provide the support staff with the email address used to setup the account, the last 4 digits of the credit card used for this purpose, and the billing address for that card at the time of the transaction.
